Mixing effects in the river downstream from pollution discharge point

چکیده
This paper follows the propagation of pollution in a river with rectangular cross-section bed and variable cross-sectional velocity. The calculations were made for steady flows pollutant concentrations. To approximate velocity distribution set equations current vorticity functions was solved. concentrations calculated from bidirectional advection turbulent diffusion equation. Analysis leads to conclusion that effects transverse associated lateral inflow pollutants disappear relatively quickly. Therefore, cross sections further downstream point discharge can be determined quite accurately just an advection-diffusion model, no included. Such level accuracy is usually sufficient assess impact source on aquatic environment. mixing stream proceeds slowly creates large zone which (low but still significant water quality) detected cross-sections are remote point. Transverse may ignored while calculating at straight watercourse state conditions.

Economic Causes of Non-Point Pollution in the Boise River
to the river near Parma, which is a short distance from where the Boise River empties into the Snake River. By comparing measurements of nitrogen and phosphorus at Lucky Peak Dam (above Boise) with similar measurements at Parma, an estimate of pollution from both urban and rural sources along the river can be made. Contamination concentrations vary greatly with the level of stream flow because ...
متن کاملthe effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Ceriodaphnia Bioassays of Cuyahoga River Sediments, Upstream and Downstream of the Akron Water Pollution Control Station
The toxicity of sediments collected from depositional and erosional substrates at two locations on the Cuyahoga River in northeastern Ohio was compared. Upstream and downstream locations from the Akron Water Pollution Control Station (Akron WPCS) were selected to evaluate effects of the Akron WPCS effluent on sediment toxicity. Seven-day Ceriodaphnia dubia bioassays were conducted on sediment e...

the sefidrud dam was constructed and made operational in iran in 1962. the reservoir lost a considerable amount of its storage capacity in the first two decades of its operation when about 800 mcm sediment deposited in it and by considering the total capacity, 1800 mcm, the live storage capacity was reduced by 45 percent in 1980. the gilan project authorities have attempted to recreate the rese...

this thesis attempts to study the representations of the third-world intellectuals in three fictional works by the british-educated trinidadian nobel-winner v. s. naipaul: the mimic men, a bend in the river, and magic seeds. the first one recounts the story of ralph singh’s sense of alienation, his experiences as a colonial politician, and his struggle to give order to his disorderly world thro...
